Summary of the Terms of Reference for the Full Governing Body and it’s Committees

FULL GOVERNING BODY

Purpose:
The Governing Body takes a strategic role, acts as a critical friend to the school and is accountable for its decisions. Setting aims and objectives and agreeing, monitoring and reviewing policies, targets and priorities.

STRATEGIC COMMITTEE

Purpose:
To ensure the activities of the governing body are co-ordinated, efficient and productive so as to improve the leadership and management of the school. To establish key priorities for the school regarding attainment, progress & safeguarding.

RESOURCE COMMITTEE

Purpose:
To monitor progress on key issues in the school improvement plan, responsible for the areas of finance, Personnel, Health and Safety & Premises. Responsible for scrutinising the budget and feeding back to the full governing body for approval, this allows governors to retain oversight of the decision-making process and to ensure the head teacher accounts regularly for the school's spending. The resource committee ensures that the school is securing value for money and acting with financial probity.

STANDARDS COMMITTEE

Purpose:
To monitor progress on key issues in the school improvement plan including setting targets for pupil attainment, reviewing RAISE online and other performance data. To monitor the provision for vulnerable groups of children. To review the school’s assessments including Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND).

CURRICULUM and WELLBEING COMMITTEE

Purpose:
To consider matters relating to safeguarding and the improvement of learning to ensure every child reaches their full potential. To monitor progress on key issues in the School Improvement Plan such as Curriculum, Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND), home/school & community links and monitor exclusions/attendance. To monitor the wellbeing of pupils, staff and the Headteacher.
