So this is it!  The Galactic Gang’s final half term at Barlborough.

The highlight of the term is bound to be the residential at Dearne Valley. After such a difficult year and a half, it will be a wonderful way for them to finish their time here.

We will be arranging some “Leaving events” in school for the children but, at the moment, we are still unclear about what we will be able to do.  We will, however, do everything we can to make the last few weeks special for the children. We will let you know when we have been able to arrange things for them.

I can read whole novels with confidence and fluency.

I can independently work out the meaning of words from the context.

Homework

Your child will receive homework every Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday.  Your child’s homework booklets will, for the foreseeable future, stay at home. Please take good care of these, however if you should require a replacement then another booklet can be purchased from the office. We ask that you please upload a photo of your child’s homework to the Teams assignment by 9am on a Wednesday morning which is the hand in date. On a Thursday or Friday, we will release the answers so that the homework can be self-marked at home.

Welcome back to what we hope will be a more straightforward term.

We would usually be expecting to do the SATs this term so it’s great that we can spend this time consolidating the work from this year and going over anything that the children have found difficult or did during lockdown.

This term, we will be joined by Miss Jervis who is from Sheffield Hallam University. She will be teaching during this half term and has got some exciting work planned for the children.  We will still be around to work with the children and support with planning and teaching.

Targets:

I can predict what happens from details in the text.

Winter Wonderland Day

We had the most fabulous day for our Christmas Enterprise activity.  The children chose to have a Winter Wonderland Day.  In the morning, we made Christmas crafts, had "skiing slalom races" and of course a snowball fight!  We then enjoyed a delicious Christmas Dinner and relaxed in the afternoon watching Home Alone.

A very well organised day Year 6!

Welcome back to what is set to be a challenging term.

This term we are going to try to use Microsoft Teams a bit more to give us some different options in case we need to learn from home again. Please make sure you can log on to Teams at home; we will show the children how to do it in school again.  If you need another copy of your login or password, please contact the school office.  Over the term, we will have some class meetings and story times and start to put some homework onto Teams.  It’s certainly going to be a steep learning curve for all of us so please bear with us if it doesn’t always go according to plan!
