So it’s the final term for the Learning Legends at Barlborough Primary School – they will be missed!

One of the main focusses of the term will be the end of year performance.  The main performance for Year 6 parents will be at 1.30 on Friday 21 July.  If you are unable to come on that date, you are welcome to come on 19 July but the Friday will be the main Leaving Assembly for the children.

We will send out details about props and costumes in a couple of weeks.  We will try to keep the costumes as simple as possible!

This half term PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon. However, if the weather is nice, we may go out more often.  Can you therefore make sure that your child has their PE kit in school every day?  Please ensure your child has appropriate kit in school on these days.  Hair needs to be tied back and jewellery and nail varnish must be removed.

Cereal boxes
We will be needing cereal boxes for our work on weaving in Art.  Can you start collecting any empty boxes now to bring in in a couple of weeks’ time – we will let you know when we need them?

If you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help, please come and see me.

A Saxon Feast!

We celebrated the end of our Anglo-Saxons topic with an Anglo Saxon feast!  We planned and made vegetable soup and baked bread.  Most of the children ate the vegetable soups and loved it - Mrs Biggin was very impressed.  We also made an Anglo Saxon settlement to show how they built their houses.  Have a look at what we did.

Street Dance Champions!

Last week the Learning Legends went to a Street Dance competition at the English Institute of Sport. Ten schools took part and we won!!! The children were absolutely amazing. They danced as a real team and everyone played their part. Mrs Biggin was so proud of their dancing, team work and behavior. They were a real pleasure to take out.

Well done Learning Legends!

Spring 2 2017 Newsletter

The children are all working very hard at the moment and their attitude working towards the SATs is excellent.  It’s lovely to see so many children coming into the Hub at 8.30 to do extra revision.  Please try to encourage your child to come where possible, it is giving them valuable learning time.  If your child was given some revision books last half term, please work through these with your child where possible, encouraging them to work on the areas that they find difficult.

We will be making Anglo Saxon soup as part of our topic and inviting parents to an Anglo Saxon feast during the final week of term.  We will confirm the actual day as soon as possible.

Help Please!
We could do with a parent volunteer to help the children learn their tables.  If you could come into school each week to test the children on their tables, it would be really helpful.  The children started working towards their tables awards last year and we’re really keen for it to continue.  Please let me know if this is something you could help with.

If you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to help, please come and see one of us.
