Targets

As a school, we have changed the way we use maths targets. Children will now be given layered targets at the start of each unit and this will help them to progress further within the topic. These will be stuck into their maths books prior to each unit and you will be able to view these at parents evening. Please see below for targets in reading and science:

The Basics

It is essential in Year 6 that your child has a firm grasp of key facts or “The Basics”, especially in maths.  We work on times tables regularly at school. As you will appreciate it is a skill that needs to be worked on in short time spans as often as possible therefore any extra work at home would be of great benefit.  We try to concentrate on one set at a time, until the children know them by heart.  Your child still needs to regularly recall and apply key number facts, like multiplication tables, even if he/she has already learnt them.

Water Bottles

Children are encouraged to bring drinks bottles to school with water so they can have a drink in class.

PE Kit

P.E is on Monday and Thursday afternoon. Your child needs to have a P.E kit in school which includes suitable footwear such as trainers or pumps, and a sweatshirt or tracksuit for colder weather.

As a school, we recognise that Year 6 is an especially important year for your child. If you have any concerns or enquiries about your child please do not hesitate to contact me at school.  After school, in the classroom, is the best time to catch me.
